Trip started out as part of a herd and he was very nervous around humans. We did a lot of trust building with him and we were finally able to take measurements for his prosthetic! Now, we put his leg on in the morning when he eats breakfast and take it off at night before he goes to bed. He loves his leg and he's learning to love people, too!
Charlie had the bad luck of being born into the dairy industry as a boy. Dairy boys are seen as just another byproduct of milk and they are commonly sold off for veal.
Thankfully, Charlie was pulled from the dairy farm and is living out his full life at our sanctuary. He's a super friendly boy who loves food & attention. We are so lucky to have him and we can't wait to see how big he grows!
If there's one thing you should know about Henry, it's that he knows he deserves it all.
Henry was growing up on an angus beef farm when a neighboring couple realized he wasn't doing as well as the other calves. They took on the job of bottle-feeding him and when he was ready to rejoin the herd, they couldn't give him up! They fell in love

Henry was growing up on an angus beef farm when a neighboring couple realized he wasn't doing as well as the other calves. They took on the job of bottle-feeding him and when he was ready to rejoin the herd, they couldn't give him up! They fell in love with him so much that they also stopped eating meat!
Unfortunately, life happens, and they couldn't care for Henry in the way they knew he deserved. That's when we stepped in!
Henry has been a spoiled boy most of his life thanks to them, and we're more than happy to keep the trend going!

Esther is Rue's momma and she's one of the best we've ever seen.
Their story starts with being chained in a backyard, with Crowley, without steady access to food or water. After multiple abuse complaints from neighbors, the owners decided the easiest answer was to send them to slaughter. Thankfully, a hero neighbor stepped in, and now they're with us!
Rue had us worried at first; she was battling a high parasite burden, diarrhea, and dehydration. She's a fighter though, just like her momma, and she pulled through! Every day, Esther teaches Rue how to be brave. We could all take a lesson from her!
Crowley is debatably the most photogenic animal on our farm. He has beautiful golden eyes that are just begging for kindness to be shown.
Crowley had a rough life before he got to us and he has a hard time trusting. He loves to act like a tough guy with Esther & Rue, but he follows Esther's opinion always. Esther likes blueberries..? You better bet Crowley is going to try those blueberries!
Henrietta is the sole survivor of an animal attack on her original flock. She was adopted to a new family & flock, but sadly, the flock did not accept her.

When she arrived to our rescue, she had severe lacerations to the top of her head. She needed extra medical attention to heal her wounds, along with extra social attention to learn how to trust chickens again.
After proper acclimation, she successfully joined our flock! She is our smallest chicken but she always makes sure to get her fair-share of the treats!
When you think of an extravert Edamame should come to your mind. She LOVES attention. If you sit down, she will be on your lap. She enjoys sunbathing but she enjoys attention even more.
Coconut is a friendly chicken that is at the bottom of the pecking order. She enjoys sun bathing and getting treats. Her favorite things are tomatoes and watermelon. She is submissive and gentle and enjoys being talked to.
